Potter & Company, LLP is pleased to announce that Mr.
Gregory Mullins has been named Managing Partner of the
firm. “I am pleased to announce Greg’s selection as the
Managing Partner of the firm. Greg’s professional experience,
as well as his communication skills with clients and staff
alike will help to continue our firm’s tradition of providing
great service, ” said David O’Bryan, who steps down as
Managing Partner after serving in the role for 11 years.
O’Bryan, who celebrated 40 years with the firm in January,
will continue providing tax, audit, and consulting services
to individuals and businesses as a partner in the firm
and a member of its executive committee.
Mullins joined Potter & Company, LLP in 1978. He has
served as the partner-in-charge of the Lexington office
of the firm since 2003. Prior to assuming that position
he served as the partner-in-charge of the Lexington office
audit department for ten years.
Mr. Mullins' professional experience includes numerous
companies and organizations, both large and small, including
manufacturers, privately-held corporations, private colleges
and schools, public schools, cooperative associations,
and governmental entities. In addition, Mr. Mullins has
been either partner-in-charge or supervising partner for
audits of financial institutions, registered broker-dealers,
governmental units, retail/wholesale operations, state
agencies, foundations, and other non-profit organizations
and colleges. Mr. Mullins has also as provided tax preparation
and planning and managerial consulting services to a variety
of individuals and businesses.
Mr. Mullins graduated from the University of Kentucky
in 1978. He is a member of various civic and professional
organizations including the Kentucky Society of CPAs,
the American Institute of CPAs and the Thoroughbred Club
of Kentucky. He serves on the boards of the YMCA of Central
Kentucky, Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass, Lexington
Rotary Club and Opportunity for Work and Learning, Inc.
as well as the Finance Committee of the United Way of
the Bluegrass. Mr. Mullins is licensed to practice in
Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina.

403(b) RETIREMENT PLAN REQUIREMENTS
The new rules and regulations for 403(b) retirement
plans issued by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Internal
Revenue Service take effect January 1, 2009. New requirements
imposed on the plans, including a plan document requirement,
new Form 5500 reporting requirements, and investment information
sharing requirements among plan providers, poses new challenges

IRS
PROVIDES INFORMATION FOR NON-FILERS TO RECEIVE THEIR ECONOMIC
STIMULUS ACT REBATE PAYMENT
The IRS will use information on 2007 tax returns
to determine eligibility and calculate the amount of the
stimulus payments for those persons that were required
to file this year. Those not required to file a 2007 tax
return for federal income tax purposes nevertheless must
file if they wish to receive a rebate this year.
